Adjacent to the wharf precinct, the Bourke Shire Council and a team of volunteers have restored, maintain and operate this 1923 Crossley oil fuelled stationary engine. The engine is started by compressed air. The whole engine weight is 16 ton, the fly wheel alone weighs 6 tons. We were privileged to see the engine in operation and hear its delightful 'chug, chug, chug' as it spluttered into life.
