Bristol Renaissance Faire
Day 72

My first attempt at "action" shots.
Those hyper bees are tough to capture, but I wanted to try something more in the realm of sports action.
I like this one, but I definitely need more practice.

Guess what * else * I did today?
Learned the value of having (or not having, as it turned out) an extra battery whilst away from home...
Fortunately I was able to steal my mom's Canon G5 and get a few more shots. Oh, the depths that photography will make us stoop to!
I'm not normally a thief...

Yeah, well... I went to Ironfest one year (an event with a similar vibe) and found that I had no functional memory card so I was stuck with doing phone shots. (This was long after 2004 when phones could do passable-ish shots, sort of.) Photography life will do you over from time to time.

What an excellent shot... We may have the castles, but there doesn't seem to be too many medieval jousts to visit.

Hi...I love that faire; my grandson and I eat our way through it every year. The bagel dogs are the best along with the potatoe chips with cheese. And, the photo is just perfect.

Great shot of the horse looking right at you. Fun times.

You must be pleased with the results as this is a great action shot Carmen. Must have been a great occasion.

I think this is a great action shot.

Yes, lots of batteries and lots of memory cards at these faire's. Very easy to run out of both. I'll be making a visit to the Bristol Rennaisance Faire later in the month. Can't wait.

What a great photo! You really get a sense of motion here ... the rider and horse leaning into the turn. Very nicely done, Carmen! Great catch!

Great close up.
I tried that a month or so ago, when we went to the Olde English faite, but not an easy task when you have a huge turkey leg i
n one hand trying to eat! LOL

Love the action and the colors. You did good! You can even see the "whiskers" on the horse. I guess that's what they are called....

Uh oh. One can never have too many batteries nor too large a bladder. I have no idea what that means except that I think it should be voted in as a old saw. I have to tell you that this photo freaked me out when I first saw because I thought it was literally a headless horseman. Nice catch of the renaissance horseman.

I do like these Faires. One cannot have too many extra batteries.
