AFARIN RADJEAI was born in Iran
and though sent to Britain to study as a teenager,
never left her cultural heritage behind.
She enjoys how photography challenges the artist,
demanding an interrogation of creative mind,
technical skills and scientific and theoretical knowledge.
Her work can best be described
s an image-study of cultural differences/similarities
and of comparative analysis of identity.
Upon completion of her degree at Emily Carr
she finished her graduate studies at University of Washington
in Seattle, obtaining her MFA.
She has had solo and group shows all over the world
including a retrospective in Seattle
and shows at the Tate Gallery in London, UK;
the Power House Gallery in Montreal
and at Gallery 44 in Toronto.
Afarin has been invited to numerous cities and universities for talks and panel discussions,
and has taught photography and arts workshops.
She lives in Toronto, Canada.
