The orange to cinnamon-colored 'Chestnut' Bolete is a favorite edible bolete (and one of Don Shernoff's favorites). Its tiny pores are whitish and age to yellowish. The spore print is yellow. The concolorous, fragile stipe is a bit lighter at the apex. The flesh of Boletus castaneus is white. It is found growing under hardwoods, especially oak.
