This museum is a combination of the old (Carnegie Museum of Natural History) and new (Sarah Scaife Gallery)--a very graceful blending of old and new! Visit this wonderful resource for the community of Pittsburgh (and the world) here!

Day 4: I've always wanted to capture these murals...
...at the Carnegie Museum, but...
...the E10 and I couldn't stay still enough.
With the 1D at ISO 800, these are much more possible!
These murals show scenes from Pittsburgh's hayday as a steel giant!
Ordinary men doing important work.....
....building the infrastructure of our country!
Modern men building a modern world.
Andrew Carnegie built steel in Pittsburgh on the backs of hard-working immigrants, portrays himself as the knight of industry!
Was it a white world in the 19th century? Looks that way!
Thanks for posting the Pittsburgh pics. I grew up there and don't get back very often. It's great to see the old field trip favorites again.

Beth, this was so nice to see. I'm a Pitt grad long gone from Pgh. but remember some of these halls and some are new to me. REally enjoyed seeing htem--plus the photography is first rate.
