Auguste Rodin

Grandmaster Sculptor And Artist
1840 -1917

This photographic image was made in 1862, when he was 22 years of age. The photographer was Charles Aubry. The B&W image was from a glass negative plate, which was badly worn and damaged. This photo image is from the very early birth pangs of photography. The young, soon to be master, sits in his studio frock with a faint image of scaffolding in the background. After much work on the B&W image, I attempted to add color to the ancient photo.

I alway thought of Rodin as an old man. This s enlightening and i like the way this is done with the minimal color on his smock.

Sounds like you had to put a lot of effort into this image, but the results are excellent. V.

The negative looks to be a fairly sensitive exposure - maybe an ambrotype given the date. Your reconstructive work and coloring really brings the image to life! Congrats on your fine work! V
