National Engineers Week Future City Regional Competition in Santa Clara, CA.

On January 28, 2006, a team from Martin Luther King Middle School in Oceanside CA won the Future City Regional Competition. The victory in this competition, in which teams from all over California presented innovative engineering concepts and their model cities of the future, earned the team of 7th and 8th graders a trip to Washington D.C. for the nationwide finals, to be held during the week of February 20.

I am very proud of my daughter and her teammates who worked very hard on this project, devoting many hours after school and on weekends. Their teachers and their mentor engineer are also to be congratulated for volunteering countless hours of their time to guide the children in this worthwhile endeavor.
