It's ceramic . . .and it does have a few chips along the edges, ut it's still holding up. I suppose, considering its age, I probably SHOULD retire it to a prominent place for display

After the first 3 comments you should be shaking a bit, washing, patting dry & placing behind glass with all the other exclusively beautiful, treasured & irreplacable items you own....!!! Cushioned by flour, it's lived a long & beautiful life. :>)

Beautiful piece of enamelware. I'd be afraid to use it. It's pretty impervious to everything except chipping. Hope you wash it carefully. :)
