27 DEC 04 MORNING DRIVE

We got about four inches (which is HUGE for this area)
No snow removal equipment . . so even ONE inch shuts this area down

But most of this was mixed with sleet and rain
The streets froze overnight causing delays in businesses and the military opening

I got to sleep in for an additional couple of hours
We had to wait to hit the streets til the sun had been up for a bit
to melt some of the ice to make the streets safer to drive

Just ten miles north in the Hampton/Newport News area of VA, they got fourteen inches of snow
This is what it looked like th is morning

Lovely shot, Pete. All our snow has melted.

Wow, it's pretty. As long as it's there and not here. :) I like the warm tones. It's a nice change from the cold blue look of snow.

Beautiful, gives the idea.
(PS What's that on the tree? A nest? Probably it isn't, since jypsee hasn't noticed it...:-))

Great capture of the sweep of the snow/ice... the cold... the anemic morning sun... the reason to stay in bed cuddled up to your loved one... to not stray from the coffee and morning fire ... to revel in the warmth of your lovely home.

So beautiful with that wonderful light coming out of the left. Our government people don't know what to do with snow in Louisiana either--we had people stranded everywhere.

Fabulous light and the shadows are so cool intersecting. You make me want to get out into the cold... Maybe not. Keep it coming, for us, please Pete.

I remember the first time it snowed when I lived in Chesapeake; it was a hoot because there was absolutely no way to get around until the snow melted or wild Wisconsinites made a two rut path for weary tidewater folk to follow us in ...
