10 JUL 04 PARA-SAILING

We went parasailing down at the oceanfront today

I had a BLAST!
That's our boat waaaaaaaaaaaaay down there (see the line coming up to us?)

Those are my toes . .does that make this another S/P???

We were 1200 feet up . . it was calm and quiet and bee-you-tee-FUL!!

But when we came down, altho the guys on the boat tried to keep us OUT of the water . . . .
I went IN . . and so did my Oly . . . fortunately the card preserved the pix

BUT MY OLY IS DEAD

=[

see my crocodile tears???

I guess this means i HAVE to go buy a NEW CAMERA =]
Doesn't it?!?!?!

Very interesting story, but sorry to hear that your camera is dead! I am just wondering if you really had 100% confidence (before you flied) that the guys in the boat could keep you out of the water...

This is great, one of my dreams to go parasailing.
Really awesome shot, sorry about the camera though

WOW , such a cool shot , sorry to hear about your camera .
Anne Young14-Jul-2004 00:08
Wow!!! How fun!!! Sorry about your camera though :(

I always wanted to parasail, and will some day for sure. My daughter is 15 minutes from Va. Beach, is this in that area?? How awesome, how long are you up there? I can't believe you didn't have some kind of water proof bag to keep your camera in, the C740 is a great camera, I have the C750 and love it. I also have the Canon digital Rebel, and love that too. I am going white water rafting in a few weeks, not brave enough to take either of my cameras, so going to get a waterproof disposable. BTW, love the tootsies in this shot, really gives the perspective.

You killed your innocent Oly? Oh my, wicked, wicked... What's the next one going to be, Pete?
virginiacoastline12-Jul-2004 11:01
I'm starting a "Pete's New Camera Fund" . . . .any of you who wish to contribute . . .cameras OR money are welcome!!! LOL! It's a totally nonprofit organization (trust me . . I am getting NO PROFIT from this at all!! LOL!)

Wow!! Incredible shot. Awesome experience. I'm not sure how I'd feel about doing it. 1200 ft? If I do, I'll try to pack the Coolpix in two zip lock bags for the landing. Thanks for the heads up.
Elizabeth Glass12-Jul-2004 02:48
Awesome shot. I love the picture in picture.
mikiruaq12-Jul-2004 02:09
What an exciting photo and what a story you have now about the passing of Oly.
David Mingay11-Jul-2004 18:54
So is this the last image the little oly made? Quite a spectacular last shot I think!
Guest 11-Jul-2004 14:55
sorry - just noticed my typo!! Should be - Like you're photo too!!!
Faye White11-Jul-2004 14:12
oh my - you are brave!!! Could never do this myself. this is a super pic!! (sorry about your cam, though :( )
Guest 11-Jul-2004 14:01
I was going to say, don't drop the camera!! Too late I suppose ... what do you fancy next?? Lik you're too :))
Willa Dios11-Jul-2004 12:08
Oh, my! I was just noticing the prices on C-740s yesterday. So sorry to hear about the 'death' of your C-740 ~ a tragedy indeed. This shot is such a hoot, Pete! I would NEVER get up in one of those things! Yikes.
Stu11-Jul-2004 11:25
What a blast. Such a shame you'll need to get a new camera, though ;-)
Adalberto Tiburzi11-Jul-2004 10:32
Really a fantastic adventure :-)
Linda Alstead11-Jul-2004 10:05
Ha ha - what a great shot and what a 'shame' for the Oly?!
Guest 11-Jul-2004 07:00
What a wonderful capture!!! Good for you!!
Rick Lewis11-Jul-2004 05:54
Condolences/congratulations about the Oly. Exceptional photo.
Dennis Steinauer11-Jul-2004 04:39
Something tells me you already had that new camera (??) on order before you went up in that thing. Just how *did* you plan to land (a misapplied word if ever there were one) without dunking the camera -- walking on water? I've done this a couple of times (parasailing, not putting innocent cameras at risk), and it's a blast, but I'd have someone else's camera. :) p.s. Those tootsies are looking a little blue and curled under.
Guest 11-Jul-2004 03:38
Oh I'm so jealous. I love para-sailing, just love it. ;;( about your camera.
virginiacoastline11-Jul-2004 03:11
"Oly had a long happy life" . . . Russ, are you kidding me?!?! I just bought it in Feb or March . . . I guess it had a SHORT happy life, LOL!!=]
Karen Leaf11-Jul-2004 03:01
Oh jeez, I get to shaking just looking from here. And you didn't have to be mediciated???

At least you got a GREAT last shot; have fun shopping!
Guest 11-Jul-2004 02:59
Wow! What an awesome shot. Your Oly had a long happy life, and served you well. If you get a DSLR, I hope it doesn't ship through Maumee! You'll never get it!!
Mike Johnson11-Jul-2004 02:43
If it wasn't for your toes, I wouldn't have recognized you! Really and outstanding capture!

jude11-Jul-2004 00:04

Guest 10-Jul-2004 23:29
oh...oh...oh!! Sooo cool! You are a brave lady (and a devious one too... I bet you went parasailing with your cam just so you'd have a 'scuse to buy a new one!)
Larry Ahern10-Jul-2004 23:23
That does look exciting ... too bad about the camera.
Jill10-Jul-2004 22:57
Oh how FUN!! When I opened this I felt so excited for you..said "LOOK Erica here are Pete's feet"
Robin Reid10-Jul-2004 22:52
And is that the shadow of the parasail on your left foot? Cool!
Robin Reid10-Jul-2004 22:51
Pete--this is probably the most unusual SP I've seen on Pbase! What a angle for a shot. Very well done.
And gosh that is tough about your Oly getting wet. ;-). Hint: Think Canon or Nikon.
Guest 10-Jul-2004 22:50
My goodness that looks like FUN! I'm sorry about your camera -- like Herbert said, here's your chance to go for a DSLR!
Herb 10-Jul-2004 22:43
