11 MAY 04b CROP DUSTER

There are numerous open fields near the Air Base
Wisely so, just in case an air accident happens

There are crops growing in many of the fields (no need to waste the space)
Today this guy was buzzing like a good ol' fashioned barn stormer
dips and dives and almost stalls . .quite a show

This shows him buzzing a field with the duster valves open & only some fifty feet high

The other one shows rather clearly the valves thru which the chemicals were sprayed

The crop duster is fine. But I have this memory. When in flight training, the instructor will put the throttle and you have to prove you can do an emergency landing in a field like this. I will not forget the time I was flying a couple feet off the ground, minimum throttle and a tractor pulled out in front of me. I did learn about accident reports and what happens when aluminum meets steel. And I survived another one of those unique experiences. :)
