The flywheel, which steady the rotation of the steam engine, installed at the engine room of the Tower Bridge. The flywheel and its steam engine had operated and raised the bascules more than 40,000 times since the bridge was opened on 30 June 1894. They were replaced by an electric motor system in 1976.
