The Entrance of the Main Altar

Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery, Hong Kong view map

The ceiling is decorated with Chinese Dragons and Phoenixes.
In Chinese tradition, the dragon is largely used to represent the emperor and males
while the phoenix represents the empress and females.

Stunningly beautiful... so rich in details, colors, perspectives... very beautiful image CM.
Of interest perhaps... here, the Phoenix represents rebirth, the Phoenix rises from the ashes sort of thing, something that comes back... Your Phoenix is very diffrent though... here it is represented as a black bird most of the time.
