Blue Mountain Peak is the highest mountain in Jamaica and one of the highest peaks in the Caribbean at 2,256 metres (7,402 ft). It is the home of Blue Mountain coffee. The coffee plantations are located about fifteen miles below the summit and this area is usually cool and misty which experts say account for the excellent taste of the coffee. An extended drought in recent times, led to a devastating fire, destroying a lot of the coffee crop. The post fire landscape, however, holds a beauty all its own.
