Malaysia is a very progressive country that is bursting with life, culture, color and great food. Pity I only had a couple of days to spend there - one and a half of which was in our hotel. But still, its amazing how motivated one can get after buying a new lens. On the last day of my trip I was able to drop by the KLCC mall, which is the one where the famous Petronas towers sprouts out from. After several ho hum hours of wading through fashion shops, I eventually found a small row of camera stores. I monopolized a poor Canon salesman's time for two hours solid and eventually got suckered into Canon's new 10-22mm EF-S Lens. Whoa! All of a sudden, even the most mundane details come alive when approached from this perspective. Honestly, I was amazed at two things. First, the sharpness. Second, I got more barrel distortion and vignetting from my 18-55 lens. Provided you are not aiming up or down, this 10mm lens will keep lines straight. Even buildings! Obviously, you can change your angle for dramatic results, but, when faced with a head on shot, it doesn't distort.
Here are a few samples from a couple of hours at the KLCC mall. Please feel free to leave a comment or click 'vote' if you want to share this with others on pbase.
