Just got back from a backpacking trip to the high Sierra, hiked up the 10,000 Ft Thousand Island Lake, been training for months for this one, absolutely amazing place, was trying to do some meteor showers photography up there, the Perseid meteor showers was supposed to be at its peak during 8/12-8/13, however, the weather wasn't very co-operating, it all started out with nice and warm and sunny at the bottom, but about few miles from the destination, the sky turned dark on us, shortly after, thunder started, OK, no big deal, very typical for high Sierra afternoon, however what's not typical this time is it followed by heavy hail, the hail last for about 10 minutes only, then the heavy rain started......and continue for 3 or 4 hours..... setting up a tent in heavy rain is something I haven't done for a while.......did I mention to start the fire and cooking in heavy rain? and guess what, both of out stoves failed to start in rain.....so a few Powerbar was all I had for dinner after a 9 miles hike with 50LB backpack.......we did have a short break between the two storm systems, so next morning I was able to grab a few shots before the second storm hit us again...... so not a lot of pictures this time, but lots of fun, seriously, it's actually pretty fun hiking on the muddy trail with a 50LB backpack in downpour at 10,000 FT elevation under the thunder storm and lightning, oh, the D800E did a pretty good in heavy rain and it's still clicking .....LOL
