August 30 2007:
Luck in Every Moment

Home

I sometimes wonder about all the twists of fate that result in our being here as the people we are. Through each generation, countless moments of fate have lead to our ancestors meeting up, often after dodging fatal illnesses and wars. Perhaps your parents or grandparents may have never met up had one of them been late for a bus or taken a job that they didn’t really enjoy.

These possibilities of fateful moments through the generations seem countless, and that is before you factor in the chances of that sperm finding the egg and making a go of it!

We are lucky indeed!

Here I’m holding photos of my maternal grandparents, neither of which I really knew.

Photoshop:
Cropped and Resized
Converted to Grayscale
Duotoned using Pantone 1205C
Adjusted in Contrast

A couple more from last saturday

Countless fateful moments and happenstance. But for a wink, a smile, a wrong turn....like Kal, I feel lucky everyday, and duty bound to make the best of each day I've been given.

True enough.
Great illustration of a fundamental thought about luck.
Thinking back to he beginning of life, all of evolution, it is mind-boggling how many near misses there must have been on the way to every being living now.
Jill30-Aug-2007 18:35
A priceless treasure you have there Ray.
royalld30-Aug-2007 18:30

I love those old photographs, the colour is perfect and the idea is brilliant.
I think we all stop and wonder at times but all we can do, is live the question...

Thought provoking thought... the twists & turns of the paths we choose during the course of our lives... I wonder if they are already mapped out for us somewhere? Lovely photos Ray!
