Brighton's East Pier caught fire in February 2003 and still reminds us of that. Its a Grade I Listed Building and the West Pier Trust are hoping that this may be restored to its former glory. Restoring piers does seem to be an uphill task, given the fight for funds and that against the ravages of the sea. It had actually been closed since 1975, but the main 'Palace' pier still draws in the crowds.

Thanks Guys: the monochrome makes me think that this was an old photo of piers that may have been damaged in WW2. I'm not sure, but I think our own guys sabotaged some to help prevent an invasion. But its really only been like this since last February!

That must have been quite a structure! Good choice of black and white for this subject. It shows the patterns and lines that are well illustrated by your framing of the composition.
