This is a Citroen 2CV in a sorry state in a local yard. This vehicle was just one of 3.8 million examples built around the world between 1948 and 1990.

It was very basic, but seen as quite fun also - an icon for those with a new age and hippy outlook - but never saw favour in North America as it was perhaps considered too spartan, especially compared to the more powerful VW Beetle.

'Dolly' is the name given to the series given with a particular trim in the early 1980's.

I used to have a Citroen Diane...buttercup yellow! It used to tip over when I went round corners and I got up to 72 mph once! ;O)

That's a line you don't hear often... "the more powerful VW Beetle" ;-) Nice find. BTW, Richard Dreyfuss drives a 2CV in American Graffiti.

I know someone that imported one of these from Germany for his wife to drive. Don't think he liked her very much. Enough said but I did get to go in it and we had it on two wheels going round a round about one day OMG!! (it belonged to my ex mother-in-law!!)
