well, it was hard to boot this one from the project, but I just think the diptych is stronger now that the colors were adjusted.

both are good, Chuck, but I prefer this one for the "Melancholy" project... perfect mood & color (or rather lack of it)

...but not for long. Wonder if it fills when the sun shines.

Great image! It has a lot of mood in it.

Truly great image. Seen on two levels, one the children missing, two the seeming yearning the foreground toy has for the background one.

Tough call for me. I like both. They both have their strengths. The one thing that might make this the more powerful image is that the foreground "teetor" seems to be looking at the other "other" teetor, but unable to move forward to meet it. It is locked in place. This adds another layer of meaning to the image.

Agree with Ray (and you) - I think this is a stronger shot on its own. Wonderful composition and DoF, and the muted colours do give it a much more melancholic feel than it had as part of the diptych with the bright swings.

I agree that this is a much stronger image on its own, there's something that seems so forlorn about this picture, whereas the swing is too vibrant to suggest melancholy.
