lost-moments

In my rush to go to another Christmas event Patrick said he had something he wanted me to see.
Oh great I thought. They have no perception of appointments, being late, working hard all day and just needing a second to myself.
I swore I was going to take the little things much more serious with the kids.
We got to his room and he proudly pointed out the swing he built all by himself. He also wanted me to take a picture of it.
I gave a short irritated sigh and told him to put it in a safe place and we would take a picture tomorrow.
Halfway to my office it hit me HARD what I had just done.
He was proud of an accomplishment he did by himself.Third borns need more affirmation.
He also knew how much I liked taking pictures and incorporated that into his request.

Almost missed this great moment.......Look at that face!!

But you DIDN'T miss it. That's all that matters. You can't dwell on the almosts and could haves. Great shot.

Nice save, Clark. We all have those moments. It happens. Adults are in a different mindset than kids most of the time. We just need to slip into their thoughts just for a bit so we don't miss out on the good stuff..
Mine sometimes come once my son is asleep, and I just feel like snuggling up next to him in guilt.
