I took a day-long drive all over Sulphur Springs Valley in search of the Sandhill Cranes
out in the fields. They winter here by the tens of thousands! I found lots of Hawks,
mostly Red-taileds, but only saw one flock of Sandhills way in the distance until I got to
Whitewater Draw Wildlife Area.
Whitewater Draw is open land with bodies of water run by the Bureau of Land Management
where lots of birds, water fowl, raptors, coyotes, Sandhill Cranes, etc. can be found.
