A look at some members of the cat family - Siberian tigers. These animals were scheduled to be "put down" - a euphamism for killed - as they had outlived their ability to make a profit for their owners. They were rescued by Michael & Michelle Clark who started Pug-Mark Park, a big cat refuge in McKinney, Texas. My hat's off to them and their fine effort.
As they are nonprofit organization, any contributions that we make are more meaningful to the care of the big cats. Donations can be sent to:

I got a wonderful feeling inside when I talked with these people. There was a heartfelt sense of true love and guardianship toward these animals. I've been elsewhere where one could sense within seconds that the people were using their tax exempt status and the animals. Not so with the Clarks. They really care for their cats.
Unfortunately, they are limited by their resources. One year they turned down 25 big cats because they couldn't afford to look after them. Even more disconcerting to me was the information about the "cubs" that are used by some performers. Once the animals get to be 18 months old they are "put down" or killed because they are too big and dangerous for the act. That's a cruel set of circumstances in my opinion.
