Looking Down on Snowplow

Taken with a Ring floodlight camera.

While I clear our walkways (there are no sidewalks in our neighborhood) with a shovel, my preferred way of removing it from our driveway is with a checkbook. Several neighbors use the same service, so we all get a price break.

We do have an electric snow thrower that I haven't used in years. It's nice knowing it's available if needed. Detroit has had 26.6 inches so far this season, perhaps less than some of you expect. I used to live in Rochester, NY where there was much more snow.

I have snow tires on my car, but most people (especially those who drive trucks and SUVs) use "all season" (really no season) tires. I have never used chains. Believe it or not, I actually LIKE driving in snow.

Oh, so this doesn't belong to Dave, it is not something he purchased to put on his truck from time to time as the snow buildup requires? The truck isn't his, it belongs to a for-hire service?

Everyone in Detroit doesn't have one then/ Or most people...btw, I presume that everyone DOES have tire chains...or again, maybe just snow tires?

Thanks for the education.

Having lived in Minnesota for over 38 years, you learn rather quickly that the city plows the roads and you are responsible for driveways and sidewalks. And when you have a decent sized driveway, both width and length, and it is filled with 4-12 inches of snow multiple times a winter it is a lot of work to clear it. I have owned snowblowers in this time, and they work well. It does take time, but the investment is a good one.
When I was traveling during a storm, my wife generally hired a service.

I can help answer this question. Driveway clearing is done with a shovel, a snow blower or you hire a person with a plow. In colder climates where snowfall occurs landscape companies don't have much work to do so they clear parking lots and driveways too. Dave hires a service to clear his drive. From the looks of this photo I'd say he has a circle drive in front of his home along with fairly long driveway to the garage. One would be at it for a while if they were shoveling everything.

Hummm, when I was up in Cleveland as a boy from time to time, the city did the road clearing of snow....so, kind of, why are you doing this? Traveller

Let me circle back to this fascinating image...as a cultural marker...of what is, and something I had no knowledge of, so I found this interesting in the extreme. Best Wishes, travller

We usually get a push at three inches. This was very dense stuff, so I was glad for the help. Having it freeze in place would have been a pain.

We do have a Ring doorbell, and they all fall off the Wi-Fi repeatedly. Very annoying. However, they're good about letting me know when their batteries need charging. They're a little larger than the 80D's battery but take a lot longer to charge.

Kind of Kool, although that doesn't look like enough snow to plow. Do you have a ring Doorbell also? Lately I've had numerous customers tell me that they have had problems with their Ring doorbell staying on line. Just wondering.
