I can only speculate where the clear plastic cover ended up.

It's a typical plastic disposable tray that comes in a snack meal box. I'd guess 8 to 10 inches so your right in the ball park on size. Given how much silt has settled in it's been there a while. I see so much trash and garbage left behind by people fishing, Johnson County Parks and Recreation needs to organize a cleanup day because this is a otherwise nice lake with a great 30+ minute walking trail around it we go to often.

Paul - I meant the food tray which appears to be aluminum. How long is that?
6 - 9 inches?

There isn't any aluminum foil in the photo. In the lower right corner is one of the "Lunchable" food trays, (kind of looks like a sunken boat) no doubt left behind by some careless picnicker or a fisherman. Just two days earlier we were out for a walk at the lake and this was solid ice and nothing could be seen but ice and rocks on top of the ice from ornery kids. But a couple of days of 50 degrees and now the bottom and trash is clearly visible.
The lens was the 70-200 at 126 mm from about 7-8 feet or so.

The perspective in size has me puzzled. When I first saw the Al foil litter, I thought it was of decent size. But then it is a large rock to its left. But then again, the ice structure almost appears as a close up, making the foil litter very small.
Hmmm.

I abhor litter. Ice may be a bigger issue than usual this winter because of the temperature swings. Already some rescues. I just say "no" to going out on it.
