I have a writing style? Wow, only took about fifty years to develop.

A lot of good the complaint did. Rigged system? Maybe just cathartic?

Dave it was a uneducated guess based on very similar writing, timing of complaint, name and a suburb of Detroit. I put it all together and said that’s gotta be my photographer friend Dave. (I earned a gold star towards earning my online sleuthing degree) ;-).
Over the years I’ve installed more Generac systems than anything else. I don’t recommend, sell or service them only the electrical install. Last year I was called out to disconnect a faulty Generac 20 KVA generator, transfer switch, and feeder wires. It was rural and was suspected it got hit by lightning then earlier this year we hooked him up with a much smaller portable set for heat, refrigeration and a few lights. 7.5 KVA.

Geothermal systems consume much less energy than standard air contact systems and run highly efficient well beyond the usefulness of air systems. My heat pump (top of the line Lennox 14 years ago) is not effective at 30F so I have it set to dropout at 40 F where his is pumping out plenty heat In single digits. Paul

How did you know which complaint at the Consumer Affairs site was mine, Paul? Were all the complaints about "the screamer"?

I researched all the brands and found none with clean hands. The one I liked best was Onan/Cummins, but I was not impressed by their local/regional distributor.

I thought geothermal pumps require a lot of electricity.
Do you have experience with Kohler Generators?

Woah another Kohler, that would have given me pause. After reading your comments about it here I googled it and hit the Consumer Affairs site and read numerous similar complaints including yours. I do wish you better luck with this one. Dave the reason my customer can get by with 40 KVA is he has 4 vertical ground source heat pumps that go about 200 feet down and as you already know environmental conditioning consumes the most household power. Call me a glutton, but we got another Kohler (one that runs at 1800 rpm). They gave us a discount and extended the warranty. The old one had been maintained according to factory recommendations as the new one will be, of course.

By the way, our home is a fraction of that 11,000 sq ft (and we only have 200 amp service). We chose to go with a 30 KW model to avoid having to partition. 40 KVA for 11,000 sq ft sounds as if it may be undersized.

I should ask since this one Failed you big time surley your not buying another Kohler are you? We all know the old saying, “ burn me once shame on you, burn me twice then shame on me”. Paul

The largest I’ve installed was a 40 KVA NG fuel made by Diesel Power for a large 11,000 sqf home in Leawood Ks. That was a big job for me, had to revamp the 800 amp service so we could drive the entire home off it. It’s worked perfectly for 17 years with routine maintenance. Paul

30 KVA natural gas, Paul, and it's the old one on the way out. Kohler made a model that was nicknamed "the screamer" because it ran at 3600 rpm. Failed before its tenth birthday. Frustrating!

Is this yours? It looks like at least a 25 KVA natural gas or LPG gen set. Paul
