I recommend you put more attention into your boots, maybe even go for custom fitting.

No more moguls for me, although I still like the steeps. My knees would never forgive me (or let me forget it).

My boot are nothing special, Rossignol mid grade. I think I paid between 150 and 200 back around 1990. I’m a good skier, not great one. A better way to describe me is I can handle myself on most runs in good conditions. Every now and then I’d get stupid and hit a double diamond. STUPID, one run down a DD mogul pitted slope and my legs say uncle then it’s green the rest of the day. I figured I’d be able to handle the 220’s but I was very wrong. They were high end downhill racing skis. Paul

220 cm? Good grief! The latest skis are shorter. I think my Rossis are 176cm. One bonus is that they fit more easily in cars. I haven't needed rooftop carrier in years.

What boots are you using? I have a pair of Salomons I like but still miss the Raichle Flexons I enjoyed during the 1980s. I hear Dalbello is producing a similar design.

This is my third pair of Rossis. The rooster logo isn't new; it goes back at least to the 1960s. My first two pairs, many years ago, had tricolore roosters. This distressed look might be aimed at cool kids and grunge types.

I had a pair of 205 cm Head racing skis that were wonderful for flying down the hill, but otherwise very tiring. My favorites were a pair of K2s that were stolen. I had another pair of K2s before these latest Rossis, but, alas, the magic didn't repeat.

Also mixed in along the way were Fischer and Yamaha. For several years I didn't own skis but instead rented demos. A great sport. I look forward to watching to Olympics next month.

My last set was a pair of Heads. They have been gone for years.

Upon closer inspection I see two of the three pairs of skis do indeed have the rooster on the tips. The third pair is a old pair with replaceable tips and my have been before the rooster logo was developed. Who Knows! Paul

I’ve got 3 pairs of Rossignol skis in my basement, I don’t remember any rooster logo on any of them. Now that I think of it I had a 4th pair, 205 cm racing skis given to me that I tried once and they were beyond what I was able to control so I Left them at the rack when the day was done. Paul

Nice. Where did you find this?
