Hummers

Madera Canyon, AZ

I went to Madera Canyon today to shoot some birds in flight. Here are 3 hummingbirds I was lucky to capture. I put then together with some edited berries for color that I also shot as I was there.

The birds were attracted to a feeder.
Santa Rita Lodge puts out numerous feeders and attracts multiple kinds of birds.
As I said below, it was a really slow morning when I was there.
I did get a nice Hepatic Tanager - rare this time of year. Probably hanging around because it has been so warm and because he found the feeders.http://www.pbase.com/image/166652641

Were the hummers being attracted to a feeder or something else? Paul

Traveller - thanks very much. I like the Japanese print analogy. Having been there a lot, I know them well and enjoy them.
For the background, I started with a photo of an Adobe outside wall of my house - see the thermometer in pending. I then ran that though Photoshop to whiten it more, than ran it through Topaz Textures where I took found a paper texture I superimposed on the Adobe.

PS How did you do the background? Traveller

Yes, this is the best of your work on HB's....almost perfect in every regard....like a Japanese print or something...just fabulous, the stars aligned and because of practice, you were there to catch it. Traveller

Thanks. It was generally a quiet morning in the canyon. I think this is a time of transition - birds coming in from the north, and others leaving here for Mexico.

Nice work on photoshopping the birds in. My favorite of your entries. Paul
