I thought it only appropriate to post a Quail on its way to breakfast.

Paul - actually, the one in our backyard was closer to the one I posted in Eligible.
Remember, the one in pending has the wrong white balance, no contrast or clarity, and is unsaturated. It needs an exposure correction as well. If you see these birds in early morning or late afternoon light, they look pretty good.

The pending version is more like I'd expect the bird to appear in nature but I thourghly enjoy the more colorful edit. Just up the street a few blocks we have a small home addition called something like "quail run". I've lived here for over 30 years and the neighborhood was just being built from a farm field and Ive never a quail anywhere so it must be a creative name only. Paul

Traveller - I posted the original unprocessed shot in Pending. This is a raw converted directly to LR with no PP except for the default capture sharpening that LR applies. I set the camera to auto white balance, so that is what you see in the jpeg.

Paul - these birds are everywhere in our area. They primarily stay on the ground and in the brush and among the cactus.

Do you commonly see these quail in the area? Remindes me of my youth when we would go quail and pheasant hunting. They usually would stay near the farm fields. Our quail were bobwhites so they don't have the red heads. I'd call this one "Impressing the ladies". Paul

Well, that is a noble and regal bird! What a pose. Traveller

PS could you post this original image with no post processing at all, except to convert to a Jpeg, over in Pending?

Thanks
