the barnyard

Going through some old boxes,
I found a cache of images from my younger days.
This is one of my favorites. It was one I shot with my pentax k1000. Back then I shot almost always in B&W and developed the film, and printed the photos in my friends basement. Seeing this image again invoked memories of spooling my exposed film around the metal real of the film tank in the dark, and then later in the low red light, watching the images appear in the chemical baths after they were printed with my beseler enlarger.
Good times. Really good times!

I also recognize this scene...evocative and though B&W, the image really pulls me in, making me feel as though I am there. Traveller

Growing up in rural Kansas I can appreciate the scene. I'd call it "the barnyard".
When I was in the army stationed in Germany we had a photo lab on base available for us to use so I processed and printed hundreds of B&W photos during my time there. All we had to do was buy the paper and the lab was provided by Uncle Sam. Once they had a learning lab on printing color photos but as luck would have it I was on duty and couldn't attend. Someone had to protect the base while the others were.... whatever they were doing. Paul
