Traveller, Re bread - the best bread we can find here in Green Valley is at a local farmer's market. There is a "retired" baker who lives in the area who brought some ovens with him, and he still bakes a few times a week simply for the love of it. Then he sells it at the market. I talked with him, and he told me he brought the yeast for his sourdough bread back from Italy, as it was the best he could find; great bread. Back in MN, most of the farmer's markets always had someone selling bread. So - try to find a farmer's market.
As noted on my travel site in reference to French snacks of Cheeses:
I was up at the Getty February 3, for a lecture on French Impressionism....and the lunch was all cheeses and rich cut salami's and the like...tasty to be certain but...forgive me for saying so, but 2 billion-billion calories....
Here is a view and an image by me exiting the Getty on Feb 3 in the current Challenge:
Edit: and PS, it is a great aggravation to me that I cannot, now that my favorite bakery has shut down, find good bread here even in the vastness of Los Angeles. If I can find a source, I can freeze it and buy a lot....but not being able to find any good bread has me pissed off.
LOL...yes, I know, this is strangely true....I am not quite sure why though...lol....but this does add a strange tension to the image and scene. I got lucky I guess. Traveller
