Like wow! Before reading any comments or seeing the behind the scenes take. What this reminded me of was a view of like the under part of rocket boosters of a space shuttle. Love the glow of the shot as well. Has a magical sci-fi look to it. While typing this a Star Wars track by John Williams started playing in the music que. How very befitting ;)

It takes photographic talent to bring out such beauty in something so mundane as paper cores - I'm impressed! I've never seen such cores in plastic - and I've handled more than my share of 36", 42" and 44" rolls of paper!

Excellent lighting, exposure and processing - and those beads of water really add interest - just brilliant!

Thank you Lee, Traveler, Najinsky, Michael and Nico for the kind words.

Traveler, thank you for wondering. These are 2" diameter by 24" long white plastic tubes - 12 of them - bound together with rubber bands at one end. They're each the core on which had 150' of coated paper. I hate throwing them out after the paper's spent as they make very nice tubes in which to ship drawings. A glimpse behind the shots (below) shows the snooted flood.

I think that I understand your niggle and actually I looked at processing/ cropping it out... and fwiw, those ribs really are on all of the tubes, but because they're also translucent, the minimally glowing surfaces that are adjacent to other tubes kill the highlights otherwise seen on the outermost surfaces. - Kelly

I am speechless...frequently I haven't a clue what to say about your work (I'm still working on a comment to the sculpture image....book length...lol), and now as to this....sigh...just stupendous.

One niggle, upper center on the frame....the vertical lines on the outside of the cup should maybe be removed to make it consistent with all the other cups.

Just freakin` Wow.

Sometimes I think I know how you did this...then I'm not so sure.

Thanks for being here.

Best Wishes, Traveller
