The Great Ocean Road & Marysville- October 18th-23rd, 2002
After a few days in the mountains, we hit the Great Ocean Road (SW of Melbourne) for a few leisurely days of driving the coastal highway taking in the views. This coast is known for its notorious seas, which have claimed in the past over fifty vessels. The twelve Apostles, which are huge stacks of rock, have been formed after years of the sea eroding the cliffs.

Too early in the a.m. for the Japanese tourists
Lots of carved out islands from the millions of years of surf & erosion
Huge surf the day we drove through
2 shipwreck survivors were washed through this passage safely to shore in the late 1880's
Years of surf and erosion cut a huge hole through this rock
The Shipwreck area, yikes!
The Twelve Apostles - supposedly you can only get a photo of all 12 if you rent a helicopter
Another angle of the Apostles
Friends on the back patio
Dave fed them constantly
Weird rainforest plants
