shark free zone

Amity, North Stradbroke Island

This fenced-off area is the ONLY safe place to swim!
Those of you who remember the film 'Jaws' will know the town was called Amity!
The netting trails about a metre down - apparently sharks wont swim under it...
...personally, I need to be convinced!

I too was adventurous and swam in a little bay where the penguins
gather, in the Indian Ocean near Cape Town - there is a ring of rocks
which makes it 'safer' but I kept my head screwed round on the watch
out for an onimous fin. It was like a warm bath!
