Fennel & Potato Gratin

A good side dish to go with sausages, for example. Trim tops of fennel bulbs and slice downwards into wedges (e.g., 6 per bulb).
Peel potatoes and cut into similarly sized wedges. Peel banana shallots and cut into halves lengthwise. Parboil all these for
8 or 9 minutes, and drain. Melt a large knob of butter in the saucepan, add chopped garlic, then return the veggies to the pan
and stir gently to coat everything with the garlic butter. Season with black pepper and sea salt, tip into a casserole dish,
spread over some grated parmesan, and bake in a 180°C oven for 30-40 minutes, until cooked and nicely browned.
We served this with pork sausages and baked tomatoes.
