Possibly Britain’s most iconic and famous three-wheel vehicle, this Regal van (often mistakenly referred to as a “Robin”) featured in the BBC sitcom “Only Fools and Horses”.
It was the sole transport for the Trotter family of Del Boy, Rodney, Grandad and Uncle Albert, until Del Boy later went upmarket and bought a Capri Ghia. What a plonker!
105824 Regal vans and saloons were produced by Reliant between 1963 and 1972. The bodywork was all glass fibre. Three were used during the production run of "Only Fools and Horses",
this one and two back-ups, one of which was sold for over £44,000. Lovely jubbly!
My father had a (four-wheeled) saloon version at one time!
Engine: 700cc, in-line 4, overhead valve, 29 bhp.
Top speed: 70 mph
Cost new: £437
Manufacturer: Reliant Motor Co. Ltd.
