Bucklers Hard

The Bath House, built in 1760 by the Duke of Montagu for his son John, Marquess of Monthermer. John suffered from arthritis,
and as it was believed that salt water would relieve the condition, a pool was created in the garden filled with water from the Beaulieu River.
After John died, the property was used to house workers on the Beaulieu Estate. For a while in the 20th century, it was let as a weekend cottage,
then converted to a clubhouse for yachtsmen, before being returned to fulltime residential use.
