Burg Maus – Mouse Castle. Construction began in 1356. It was built to protect the Electorate of Trier's rights to tolls on the Rhine River
and secure Trier's borders against the Counts of Katzenelnbogen, who built the neighbouring Burg Katz. Though never destroyed, it fell into
disrepair in the 16th and 17th centuries. It was restored between 1900 and 1906.
