St Publius Church. St Publius was the First Citizen, or Governor, of Malta, during the Roman period.
He was converted to Christianity in AD 60 by St Paul, and became the first Bishop of Malta.
The church was started in 1733, under Grand Master Vilhena, but not completed until 1792, owing to lack of funds.
