Ta単inu, Gozo, Malta痴 National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin. At a small chapel near here, in 1883, a local peasant woman heard a voice
asking her to recite three Hail Marys. A friend admitted also hearing the voice, and together they prayed for the woman痴 critically ill mother,
who then miraculously recovered. Subsequently, miracle cures multiplied, and the small chapel became a place of pilgrimage. To accommodate
the thousands of pilgrims, this huge neo-Romanesque church was built in the 1920s, incorporating the original chapel behind the main altar.
