Water shots on the cheap

This is the first water drop photo I have ever shot. The magzine I took the idea from suggested an epensive flash cord extension which I don't have so I improvised on that and the back ground. I took many shots to get the drop, and also tried my canon 17-55 before I settled for the Tamron70-300on Macro. ( when I say settled , its the only other lens I have)My Photoshop has stopped working so the background is as shot, without the clean up I would have prefered. See set up here http://www.pbase.com/chestersgallery/image/108390412

Canon EOS 30D ,Tamron 70-300
1/200s f/19.9 at 183.0mm iso500 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Thats brilliant straight out of the camera. I haven't even dared to try anything like that because the setup looked so extreme.
Apparently milk moves slower and gives a different effect
