Australian native birds,first sighted by Europeans in 1697 by de Vlaming in West-Australia.
The Black Swan's prefers a habitat extends across fresh, brackish and salt water lakes, swamps
and rivers with underwater and emergent vegetation for food and nesting materials.

A beautiful shot of them.
They are native to Western Australia and unlike Janice I have never seen a vicious one in over 40 years.

There are seven species of swans in the world, all pure white except for the Australian black swan and the South American black-necked swan.
Even though Black swans are native to Australia they now exist in abundant numbers in New Zealand. We have heaps of them Mieke, and at times they can be quite vicious. But they are beautiful birds to photograph.
