Witlof means, "white leaf", for the reason of its appearance.
It is grown on the roots of the chicory in the dark.
It has a bitter taste.
I like to eat it with white wine/cheese sauce and capers.
And of course I add some sour cream.
Witlof is a common vegetable in the Netherlands.
I only know one shop in Melbourne were I can buy it.
