THis is very nicely done. A wonderful environmental portrait. I really like the B&W version.
    Guest 25-Feb-2005 23:39
Either picture is good! Especially that expressive face of the blacksmith.
The BW has very good constrast and the color photo is monochromatic, impressive!

Very impressive. I like elements of both the B & W and the colour.

Awesome. The black and white tones are very rich looking. Wonderful!

Great conversion to b/w. I have trouble with it also. This is a beautiful clear candid. I love your historic shots.

    type24-Feb-2005 09:11
Excellent work, especially as it's a candid that looks so pristine.

This is an awesome image and i think that has nothing to do with my two cents advice. It is one of the most inspired portraits i have ever seen. I want to say it this way: Voted with both hands!!!
    Guest 24-Feb-2005 03:09
    wonderful
    Cliff24-Feb-2005 02:59
Marvellous image in both colour and b&w. The choice is so personal, but my clear preference with this particular shot would be the B&W. The focal point is the smithies eyes and the light falling upon them and that is much more obvious (to me) in b&w. Beautiful shot either way :o)
    Guest 24-Feb-2005 02:55
Really nice B&W technique - maybe you can teach me now? Great crop and composition.
    laine8224-Feb-2005 02:10
The colour defines the tools, the peeling paint, his soiled trousers & the glistening grey of his beard so for all those reasons I prefer it to the black & white. Besides, you do colour so well..:>)
    littleheifer24-Feb-2005 02:09
    Wonderful shot. Perfect B&W conversion.
