A royal burial chamber about 43 feet high and 47 feet wide near the citadel of Mycenae, the so-called "Treasu;ry of Atreus"
is the largest unobstructed interior space known till the Pantheon in Rome was built in AD 118-125.
The Treasury of Atreus was once richly decorated, possiblly with precious metals and treasure. but plundered in ancient times,
The interior is an example of a corbelled vault "in the round", with each successive stone projecting above the one just under it, creating the "beehive" shape.
