The Phaestos Disk shown in this image is a mysterious artifact from the site of Phaestos in Crete.
Made of terracotta, the disk is embossed or stamped on both sides with a language that to date has not been deciphered,
though many attempts and theories as to its language and meaning have been put forward.
The symbols are arranged in a spiral pattern, and the piece dates from ca.1600 BC.
