The Henry or Burt Covered Bridge is a 127 foot town lattice truss. It crosses the Waloomsac River in West Bennington Vermont. This bridge is a short distance from newly rebuilt Paper Mill Bridge and the Silk Bridge. Between 1840 and 1989 the bridge had 2 sets of town lattice trusses to handle the weight of heavy loads of pig iron, carried across the bridge, drawn by several yokes of oxen. This made the Henry bridge the strongest covered bridge in Vermont. The materials used for reconstruction of the bridge in 1989, were southern pines, with ash tree nails... not the usual spruce and oak.
