Alex my Cat

This is a picture of Alex taken last July when he was a few weeks old. He was a discarded street kitten taken in by our friend Chris who in turn gave to us.

I found a homeless kitten once. Actually, he found me and 'meow'ed at me for attention. Luckily he was less than two blocks from the SPCA. I enticed him out of his hole using sausages with cheese in them while someone else went for help. Those sausages were yummy, true, (which is why I had just bought them) but they were obviously his finest meal ever.
I live indoors, but I am homeless too, so I could not keep him. The SPCA here (San Francisco) never kills their animals. I often wonder about him...
The Peninsula Humane Society (San Mateo, CA) made a TV progam called "Kiss the Animals Goodbye". Seeing the results of animal overpopulation is an intensely chilling experience.
In our society where even people are considered part of the street trash ("Homeless" and "discarded" are essentially the same thing, but "homeless" sounds better.), "a discarded street kitten" can go unnoticed, but is as valuable as any other kitten.
I hope you and Alex are happy for many years to come! Dave
