I had the wonderful opportunity to play in a band with Finley in the early 1970's and had been a fan of his as a teenager when I used to go & watch him sing in the mid 60's with his group "The Sceptres". I didn't see him again until he came back from Seirra-Leone in the early 1980's when he witnessed to me about "The Lord" in a local Memphis Supermarket. Finley had the most "unbelievable" voice of anyone I ever had the pleasure of working with and he was truly a kind and caring person. Anyone who knew him could never forget him.

OMG Rebekah,

I hope this doesn't make you sad but I heard 'Angel' today and your daddy is forever a huge impact in my life. I know I don't know you but I've met your brothers, your mom, your first two nephews, and have always thought about you and hoped you would be ok. I can't tell you how his sweet heart and silent struggle always falls on me when I am in great need for comfort. Please hug your mom and your brothers the next time you see them and tell them it is from me and I will never forget the five of you for the rest of my life. It is so very sweet I just googled his name for no reason and stumbled on this site. I just needed to see him for really no reason. Praise God, He always finds a way to send your dad to comfort me.

I went to Northeast Bible College at the same time Finley was there...(just a short while for him)...I had the privilege of singing with him a few times. He had the most powerful voice I had ever heard. Ever since then I have measured the strength of voices on my own personal "Finley" scale. No but Finley has ever registered a "10"! I also remember we turned more than a few heads when we sang a duet version of Joe Cocker's You Are So Beautiful at a Bible college banquet....apparently it wasn't what they were expecting!...........Tom Wagers
