died Saturday, August 11th , in Memphis.
Southaven - CHARLOTTE B. CATES, 62, homemaker, died Saturday, August 11, 2007 at Methodist
University Hospital in Memphis. Mrs. Cates was born November 4, 1944 in Memphis, TN and was a
member of Southaven First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 14 from 6-9 p.m. at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven. Services will be Wednesday, August 15 at 1 p.m. at Southaven First United Methodist Church with burial in Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens in Southaven. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Joe Cates of Southaven; two sons, Jackie Jackson of Southaven and Bobby Jackson of Southaven; one stepson, Joseph A. Cates, Jr. of Southaven; two daughters, Susan McKinney of Horn Lake, MS and Cheryl Shaw of Southaven; three stepdaughters, Vickie Bullock of Southaven, Sherrie Akin of Horn Lake, and Pam Cooper of Destin, FL; two brothers, Tommy Boillot of Memphis and David Young of Red Banks, MS; one sister, Paula Hilborn of Arlington, TN; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Decatur and Alice Young and one granddaughter, Lindsey Kaitlyn Shaw. The family requests that memorials be made to Southaven First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society. Twin Oaks Funeral Home 662-349-9720

Centerville - HELEN GRAY LAWRENCE VANDER HORST, 96, died July 14, 2007 in Centerville, Tennessee. Mrs. Vander Horst was preceded in death by her husband, theRt. Reverend John (Jack) Vander Horst, 7th. Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Tennessee; and by one daughter, ELLA COLE VANDER HORST (Tittler) of Swampscott, MA. Mrs. Vander Horst is survived by three children, Helen Vander Horst Keese ofKnoxville, TN, John Vander Horst of Charleston, SC, and Allston Vander Horst of Centerville, TN; as well as by seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The funeral service for Mrs. Vander Horst will be held on Monday, July 16, at 2 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church at Ashwood in Mt. Pleasant, TN. Conducting Mrs. Vander Horst's service will be the Rt. Rev. William Sanders, the retired 8th. Bishop of the Diocese of Tennessee, and the Rev. Tom Wilson.
